we are birds, but we dont kiss.

unclassified: self-portrait // april 2026

10×28 inch crochet tapestry

acrylic and cotton yarn

this was created for my grad class — “queer galleries, libraries, archives, and museums” (GLAM).

exploring my relationship to queerness, i examined GLAM institutions through the lens of incompleteness, affect, and self-representation. crochet was used as a soft, tactile medium to emphasize the emotional and embodied aspects of identity. i intentionally left the yarn ends unweaved to represent the unfinished, ongoing nature of identity and evoke the gaps and absences that shape queer archives.

the inclusion of the word “unclassified” reflects my own experience of identity as something that does not fit neatly into controlled vocabularies and embraces ambiguity, fluidity, and becoming.

year of the horse // january 2026

5×51 inch crochet tapestry

acrylic yarn

horses scare me. but I wanted to create something that will excite me for the upcoming year. even though this year isn’t even necessarily prosperous for those born during a year of the horse (i.e. me)!

honk honk

10×15 inch crochet tapestry

acrylic yarn

this was my first attempt at tapestry-style crochet. i still love it. i have it hanging up in my room.

the gift of flowers

10×10 inch embroidered decorative piece

thread and twine

this was a gift for my friend’s 80th birthday.

ada taught me how to crochet and always gives me tips and tricks on all things crafting. she is now beginning to lose feeling in her hands due to arthritis, so, i like to make things that will hopefully make her happy and scratch that crafting itch.
